Equipment Donation

Power the Sound. Light the Screen. Build the Future.

Donate Music, Recording & Media Equipment to Our STEAM Program

At Black Men In Training (BMIT), our STEAM program exists to do more than teach technology.

We use music, digital media, and creative production as entry points into science, engineering, and real-world career pathways for young people in our community.

When you donate professional or gently used creative equipment, you help us turn curiosity into confidence and creativity into career readiness.

This is how STEAM becomes personal.

This is how learning becomes ownership. 🎛️✨

Why Creative Technology Matters in Our STEAM Program

In our classrooms and labs, young people learn:

• audio engineering and sound design

• digital storytelling and video production

• media literacy and communication skills

• collaboration, project management, and problem-solving

• creative entrepreneurship and portfolio development

For many of our students, access to high-quality creative tools is the difference between watching from the sidelines and stepping into leadership behind the console, behind the camera, and behind the ideas.

Your equipment helps us place powerful tools into young hands across the greater Portland area.

What We Are Actively Accepting

We welcome equipment that directly supports our STEAM curriculum and creative labs.

🎙 Audio & Recording Technology

• audio interfaces and recording systems

• studio and field microphones

• headphones and monitor speakers

• mixing consoles and controllers

• outboard gear and audio processors

• music production software and licenses

• MIDI controllers and digital instruments

🎸 Musical Instruments & Performance Tools

• acoustic and electric guitars and basses

• keyboards, synthesizers, and digital pianos

• drums and percussion instruments

• brass, woodwinds, and string instruments

• pedals, stands, cables, and accessories

Instruments allow our youth to connect engineering concepts with sound, signal flow, and performance design in real time.

🎥 Video, Photography & Media Production Equipment

• HD and 4K cameras and camcorders

• tripods, gimbals, and stabilizers

• studio and portable lighting kits

• audio-for-video gear

• computers and editing workstations

• external drives and media storage tools

These tools support our storytelling, digital journalism, and community media projects.

How Your Donation Is Used

Every accepted item is placed into one of three STEAM pathways:

Youth learning labs

Hands-on instruction in audio production, media creation, and creative engineering.

Project-based programs

Students produce original music, documentaries, and community-centered content.

Career exposure & workforce preparation

Youth build portfolios, learn industry workflows, and explore careers in creative technology.

Your donation becomes curriculum.

Your donation becomes access.

Your donation becomes opportunity. 🎯

Corporate & Industry Partners Welcome

We proudly partner with:

• recording studios and media companies

• production houses and creative agencies

• technology and software firms

• music retailers and manufacturers

If your organization is upgrading equipment or closing out inventory, your in-kind donation can immediately strengthen youth programming and workforce pipelines.

Tax-Deductible Giving

BMIT is a registered nonprofit organization.

Donations of equipment may be tax-deductible at fair market value in accordance with IRS guidelines. A donation acknowledgment will be provided for your records.
